“Heiwa” is the Japanese word for “peace”. It combines the concepts of calm and harmony.
This concept embodies our aim and ultimate goal – to help you begin and continue in your journey towards true wellness. Heiwa therapists strongly believe in the underestimated power of holistic therapies to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. We have witnessed and experienced firsthand how Reflexology can help alleviate many symptoms associated with pre-menopause and menopause, anxiety, stress, IBS, insomnia and fertility changes. At its most basic level, Reflexology can improve circulation and promote a deep state of relaxation. Reflexology is a complementary therapy that can support the body’s innate healing mechanisms, which may also aid in pre- and post-operative recovery. The fundamental aim of Reflexology is to ease stress and tension and help calm the nervous system.
We also offer Facial Acupressure therapy. Facial Acupressure therapy is another way to help relieve stress and tension, particularly in the head, jaw muscles, neck and shoulders, as well as rejuvenate the whole facial structure. It incorporates Japanese facial massage, acupressure points and uses the ancient Chinese face map to support the whole person.

Nutritional Advice
The Nutrition module within a Reflexology Level 3 qualification is designed to equip practitioners with evidence-based knowledge to offer our clients informed suggestions for healthy eating and wellbeing that complement the reflexology treatments and supports a holistic treatment. Your therapist can explore this with you during your consultation before or after your reflexology treatment.
Sip water regularly throughout the day. Mineral water, herbal teas, or diluted fruit juice are ideal. Avoid drinking large amounts quickly. Adding lemon or lime can help if you dislike plain water.
For the rest of the day, avoid caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, recreational drugs, and overly stimulating activities.
Choose light, nourishing foods and avoid spicy or greasy meals. Soups, lightly cooked fish, rice, or similar gentle foods are ideal.
If possible, avoid rushing around after your treatment. Spend the afternoon resting, reading, listening to calming music, enjoying a gentle walk, or sitting quietly outdoors.
You may find it helpful to note how you feel after your treatment, both physically and emotionally. Writing things down can help you process and remember changes, especially if your next appointment is several weeks away.
It’s normal to feel emotional, irritable, teary, or even unusually giggly after a session. These responses are temporary and can be helpful to note in your journal.
Most people feel better after treatment, but some may experience temporary effects such as:
– Changes in bowel or bladder habits
– Headache, light-headedness, or flu-like symptoms
– A temporary increase in existing symptoms before improvement
These usually pass within 24–48 hours. If symptoms are severe or last longer than 48 hours, please seek medical advice.
If you experience any after-effects, rest, drink extra water, and be gentle with yourself.
Reflexology is a therapy based on the principle that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other parts of the body. By applying pressure to these points, a reflexologist aims to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes and restore balance.
Many people experience a deep sense of relaxation and stress reduction during and after a reflexology session. Others report improved sleep, reduced pain, enhanced mood, and better circulation.
From a subtle smile to a deep frown, our facial muscles are directly connected to our emotional state. Chronic tension in the facial muscles such as those involved in clenching the jaw or frowning may reinforce emotional stress over time.
Acupressure facial therapy incorporates Japanese facial massage, acupressure points and uses the ancient Chinese face map to support the whole person. This treatment can help relieve tension in the jaw muscles, neck and shoulders as well as rejuvenate the facial structure. It is also a fantastic therapy to support emotional processing and may help in alleviating symptoms of bruxism (teeth grinding/clenching).
While the traditional roots of facial massage therapy go back centuries, modern studies suggest some physiological benefits:
– A 2018 study in Complementary Therapies in Medicine found that facial massage increased parasympathetic activity indicating deep relaxation and reduced stress.
-MRI studies have shown that stimulation of the trigeminal nerve (which innervates much of the face) activates brain regions associated with mood and relaxation
Regular facial treatments can help:
-Release habitual tension in the jaw, brow and temples
-Stimulate circulation, improving tone and reducing puffiness
-Calm the nervous system, lowering stress hormone levels
-Support emotional release
Generally, reflexology is not painful. Most people find it to be very relaxing. You might experience some tenderness or sensitivity in certain areas, which can indicate an imbalance in the corresponding body part.
The number of sessions needed varies greatly depending on your individual goals and health concerns. Some people find relief after just one session, while others opt for a series of treatments to address chronic issues or maintain well-being. Your reflexologist can discuss a personalized treatment plan with you during your initial consultation.
Please fill out your consultation form prior to your first appointment. We can then use this as a basis for your treatment plan. Your first treatment will be approximately 60 minutes long to allow time to discuss this afterwards. All follow-up treatments will be approximately 50 minutes long.
If you need to cancel, please notify us by email to heiwalondonreflexology@gmail.com at least 48 hours before your scheduled appointment. There will be no refund after this time.
